The Perfect Paleo Cold Brew Coffee

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I post a boomerang of my cold brew coffee every morning. Not only is coffee a huge part of my morning routine, but my day is just better with a cold cup of cold brew. I’m a huge cold brew drinker and only occasionally drinking hot coffee. A lot of people ask about my coffee routine, so I decided to share it here.

Cold brew vs. Iced Coffee vs. Hot Coffee

I just wanted to share the difference between these three different “types” of coffee. The coffee (actual beans) are the same, but it’s all about the way it’s brewed. Cold brew coffee is truly brewed cold (or room temp) for 12 or so hours, hot coffee is brewed with hot water and iced coffee is hot coffee with ice added to make it cold.

Cold brew coffee is less acidic and less bitter, making it easier to digest. Honestly, I thought there wasn’t a huge difference. But around the time of my Crohn’s diagnosis – I was having a hard time digesting coffee. It was causing lots of stomach pain and cramping. I did some research and decided to try out cold brew and it really helped my stomach pains.

I’ve tried multiple cold brewers. Honestly, they were all a mess and a pain to deal with. While registering for wedding gifts, Steven and I came across the Asobu Cold Brew Maker and it’s truly life-changing. I love it so much because, after the coffee brews, you can release the coffee into a carafe that you can then keep in the fridge! It’s so easy to clean and keeps the mess minimal.

I set-up the cold brew maker on Sunday morning and let it brew until Monday morning. I use whatever coffee we have laying around, normally it’s Folgers. On Monday morning, I release the coffee into the carafe and stick in the fridge. Now I’ll have coffee throughout the week! I only drink about a cup, so the carafe lasts me a week or almost a week.
