How does an air fryer work?
In short, it works by circulating hot air around the food. I know, you’re thinking – but this is how an oven works…correct. The main differences between an over and an air fryer is cooking time and results. Trust me, I’ve tried to make crunchy brussels sprouts in the oven and they’ve never turned out as good as they do when made in the air fryer.
How is an air fryer healthier?
Obviously, not deep frying it in oil makes it healthier. I do still coat whatever I’m cooking in oil, but I have can use coconut oil or a little spray of avocado oil. The best part is even though you’re not deep frying it, it has the same results (if not better, in my opinion.
Is it easy to clean?
Learning how easy it is to clean made me love this kitchen appliance even more. Literally, you take the basket out, go over it was soap and water to remove the oil AND YOU’RE DONE. What?! I didn’t think it would be this easy. We normally clean it right after using it, let the basket air dry overnight and put it away in the morning. SO EASY.
What type of air fryer do I recommend?
I have the NuWave Brio Air Fryer. It’s 3 quarts and perfect for two people or maybe two people and some small kids. For a family, I’d recommend sizing up to a 6 quart. The NuWave Brio 6 qt can literally fit a whole chicken. I have used my air fryer weekly for 6 plus months and have had zero issues. It’s the more expensive choice, but I’ve heard for others that the Philips Viva Turbostar Air Fryer is a great choice as well. It has more than 400 reviews and had a 4.5./5 star rating.
What’s your favorite thing to air fry?
Hands down, brussels sprouts (look for the recipe next weel!). A close second is sweet potatoes. They both come out so insanely crispy…I can literally eat a whole bowl of either by myself. I have never, ever been the person to make and eat a whole bowl of brussels sprouts for dinner…but when made in the air fryer, I can easily consume all of them.
