My favorite things about the Healthline IBD app

I’ve now been using the Healthline IBD app for a little over a month and I’m loving it! Read my previous post about the Healthline IBD app here.

In my last post, I shared about how at the start of my  Crohn’s journey, Instagram was an outlet for me. It allowed me to find (and talk) to other’s with Crohn’s, complain about flaring and ask for advice. Instagram was a great stepping stone to find information and find people going through the same thing.

While Instagram was great, Healthline IBD app has been even better. I’m definitely more a fly on the wall, reading people’s post and comments. I constantly find myself nodding my head and agreeing.

My top three things about the Healthline IBD app:

  • Live Chats
    • A few times a week, live chats are held on the app. I’ve had the opportunity to host a live chat (and I’ll be hosting another on June 11, 8:30 CST discussing how to start eating paleo) and the opportunity to participate some other chats. I love the wide range of chat and the ability to chat with other IBD patients in real time. I think my favorite chat so far has been about pregnancy and Crohn’s. While we still have a while before kids, it was so interesting to learn about other’s experience and how they raise children while also dealing with a chronic illness.
  • Private Messaging
    • The option to reach out, privately, to fellow IBD patients really offers the opportunity to make a deeper connection. Especially if I read a comment or post about something that really resonates with me.
    • I’ve also been able to connect with a few girls and carry the relationship over to Instagram. It’s empowering to see how well they’re doing and watching their journey through stories.
  • Discover Tab
    • The discover tab of the app shares a wide range of articles from eating well to what’s in the news regarding IBD and more. I often find myself opening the app and hopping on over to the discover page and scrolling for way too long. It’s really interesting to read what’s new out there, but also articles from experts that are really eye-opening.
    • Some of my favorite articles so far have been the top Crohn’s blogs of the year (and some of the people on the list are on the app)! I found some great blogs and gals to follow through the article. I also really enjoyed a Medical News Today article about if 21st-century living is to blame for IBD

Have you downloaded the Healthline IBD app? If so, leave me a comment and let me know!

I’ll be on the IBD Healthline app tomorrow, June 11 at 8:30 CT discussing tips on starting a paleo diet.
